As part of the three-year contract, Sigma Seven will also provide 24-hour technical support for GeoField. GeoField will be launched this year and the software will be called up by field technicians with robust field computers. UK Power Networks takes over Sigma Seven`s GeoField software as part of the Business Transformation Programme (BTP) to improve all business processes and associated IT systems. “We look forward to working with the company`s team to make the most of their significant investments in enterprise systems, providing the tools they need to enable their work to work at the point of action. Mobile mapping specialist Sigma Seven has won a $1 million contract to deliver its mobile mapping software to energy giant UK Power Networks. Sigma Seven`s current customers include Scottish Power, Northern Powergrid, Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, Bristol Water, Scottish Water, South East Water, Wales -West Utilities and Western Power Distribution. The contract is the supply of its GeoField software to UK Power Networks 2,500 engineers working in London and the South East “UK Power Networks joins our considerable list of customers in the supply sector, their mobile staff and mapping requirements are subsequently met by GeoField`s solutions.” Paul Reid, Managing Director of Sigma Seven, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by UK Power Networks to play an important role in its transformation project. Launched in Edinburgh in 2000, Sigma Seven offers its geo-field mapping software and technical support to approximately 2,500 UK Power Networks foreign service engineers, who map 170,000 km of power lines in London and the south-east. “GeoField will enable UK Power Networks to optimize the service of its customers and stakeholders and maintain the operational efficiency of its networks. Sigma Seven software will be integrated with THE GE Smallworld (geographic information systems) and THE SAP asset management systems of UK Power Networks, so that field technicians can electronically display and update GIS data and asset data on site.
